The Green Goddess

  • There are very few British Racing Green beetles in the world as it was not an original  VW colour.

  • Consequently it is thought the Green Goddess is the only pre 1970 British Racing Green coloured Beetle on the road in the UK today – it was resprayed from its original (much less interesting) Peru Green in 2019 and is all the better for it!

  • The Green Goddess is one of the very last beetles to be produced in the 1960’s as it was built in 1969 and now some 54 years later, as a repurposed classic it is ready for daily use in 2023.

  • This car was acquired by us as a result of the pandemic and a house move, both of which meant the car never got fully rebuilt by the previous owner who having driven it for the first four years of her ownership and commissioned a partial restoration and full re-spray…and then Covid came shortly after a house move. So after six years of ownership it was sold to us in early 2022.

  • Whilst the bodywork was sound the same could not be said for the underside so a complete new floor pan was sorted and with an MOT certificate secured we ran the GG for a while in order to get to know more about its foibles.

  • We then commenced a more meticulous exercise which involved all new rubber seals, a top to bottom refurb of the cabin including a complete retrim of the seats in addition to respraying of the internal paintwork in order to produce the car you see for sale today.

  • The last 10 years of the Green Goddess’s life have been easy ones having averaged less than 750 miles a year, but she is now ready and raring to be used more regularly.

  • Wanting to make the most of this eye catching vehicle we have fitted correct specification bumpers (in stainless steel so they will never rust) and subtle ‘Fuchs’ style wheels as well as upgrading all the lights to a modern standard and fitting a DAB sound system.

  • There is no chance of you catching a chill in this car as not only are both the front and rear screens heated there is a new electric heating system installed as well as heated front seats!

  • To  complete its modernisation we worked with the market leading specialists, Retroelectrics, who undertook all the High Voltage work to converted the car to electric power in early 2023. As ever we have maintained 100% of the Green Goddess’s original external  appearance. but have completely reupholstered the interior to give a fresh modern feel and look.

  • Although not required as a historic vehicle the car has a current MOT certificate.

  • Consequently the car’s unique and distinctive character is still clearly evident whilst modern day performance (0-60 mph in sub 6 seconds and a top speed in excess of 80 mph) ensures this 55 year old classic is fit for purpose with no road tax or congestion charges to pay!

  • Character, originality, performance, green credentials and reliability all in a one off car.
